What are Bible Codes?
(Torah Codes) (ELS)?
Please read "Seven Warnings" first!!!
Why
pictograms?
"Torah Codes" are virtually synonymous with "Bible codes," except "Torah codes" emphasizes the first five books of the bible---the books of Moses.
"ELS" stands for 'Equal-distance (or Equidistant) Letter Sequences.'
Instead of reading a text normally––one letter at a time––hidden words are looked for by reading the text every 2, or 3, or 4, (etc.), letters, skipping over the letters in between.
For example, a relative of mine has the name Joan Coombs. If we were to read this at every two letter skips, it would read
"J-a-c-o-b." Of course, this is just a chance word contrived by myself; actually, it shows how somewhat easy it is for words to be found with ELS. Moreover, bible codes (ELS) may also run backward too, thus doubling chance occurrence.
What is an ELS matrix slide?
A matrix-slide places letters (from an actual text with spaces removed) in array over top each other in rows at equal intervals. See, for example, the matrix below of John 3:16 (KJV), written out at 20 letters per row. In this example, the ELS words that are in red (i.e.,
"GATE," and "LANE"), are at a 20-letter-skip sequence, and span a total of 60 letters during its run. These are the only ELS words that I could find from
Jn. 3:16––words that have at least
4-letters in them at the 20-letter skip sequence.
(Note: John 3:16 is only a random selection of text and skip sequence. We are looking for ELS here for the purpose of explaining what the bible codes are, that is all. It is not a bible code! You may also wish to look for other words here. In so doing you will
appreciate how difficult it is to find meaningful words in an English language matrix [without, of course, using the original words of
Jn. 3:16.] However, the Hebrew language is such that random chance words are easy to find. Nevertheless,
the complexity of the picture bible codes are staggering, and this more than makes up for the ease with which words may be found in the Hebrew language.)
The word underlined in green (i.e., "THIN"), is therefore at one-letter skips. The diagonal ELS word in purple ("HITS") is backwards at minus 19 letter skips. Therefore, if we
adjusted our matrix so that the letters were spread out at 19 letters per row (instead of at 20 as here), the word "HITS" would then appear vertically, and the words "GATE" and "LANE"
would instead become diagonal. The blue words, "RENT," and "SOOT," therefore, are at minus 21 and minus 19-letter intervals respectively. ("Minus" means that the word runs
opposite to the normal direction of the English language. Note that Hebrew reads from right to left; therefore, Hebrew bible codes appear backward to an English reader.)
Picture Bible Codes are codes that form pictures. The word 'gate' is below. Let us say that it was joined with several other words or sentences that
created the outline of a gate, then that would be a picture bible code. I am not able to produce that here by random since picture bible codes are too complex. Only God can do that!
